Ron Rabena, Chief Client Officer, Allied Universal
Ron Rabena’s successful security career began when he was a teenager in 1976 when he took a part-time staff position in event security. Ron was promoted to account manager and later promoted to Assistant Vice President of Operations.
“My father worked in the security business, so physical security became the family business,” said Ron. “Working in security was the perfect job for me when I was young --I had no idea it was going to become a lifelong career.”
At the age of 30, Ron was promoted to Vice President of Industrial and Event Operations where he oversaw sales, operations and management of the two divisions.
In 1992, before workplace violence was in our day-to-day vernacular, Ron’s father lost his life to a workplace violence incident.
“I chose to honor my father’s legacy by continuing in his footsteps to serve and secure my community and mentor the next generation of security leaders,” said Ron who has handled every facet of security in his career including training and recruiting. “Back in the day, we had dual job titles and we were a jack of all trades and master of many.”
In August 2004, Allied Security acquired Barton Protective Services which began operating under the name of AlliedBarton Security Services. With this acquisition, Ron’s responsibilities increased and he was responsible for operations in 22 district offices in 14 states overseeing a budget of $450M and over 13,000 employees.
With the merger of AlliedBarton and Universal Services of America, Ron was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer and later to his current role as Chief Client Officer where he interacts with the regional presidents in the field and works with hundreds of clients every week.
“With a 45-year career at Allied Universal, I am a testament to the dynamic, evolving and challenging security sector and the ability of a committed professional to rise up through the ranks—from an hourly wage of $4 to one of the top tiers of management at a global company,” said Ron.
Ron is extremely proud to be able to continue to mentor, coach and develop security professionals.
“I have had the honor of mentoring dozens of great leaders at Allied Universal,” he said. “At the end of the day, I may not have all the answers but I do have high emotional intelligence combined with a love of working with people and being of service. I bring those attributes to all my interactions with security professionals and view their ongoing career success as the highest tribute.”
What’s kept Ron at Allied Universal?
“Our people, clients, culture and esprit de corps as we all work for one mission – to serve our employees and clients to the best of our abilities – is what has kept me here. We are always solving challenges and making a positive difference in people’s lives. We serve our clients best when we serve our employees first,” he said.
