NEW YORK/SANTA ANA, Calif. – June 10, 2019 -- Allied Universal®, a leading security and facility services company in North America, was recently presented with the prestigious Pro Patria Award given by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) through the Department of Defense at the 2019 Awards Banquet at the Hyatt Place in New York on June 7.
ESGR’s Pro Patria Award is presented annually by each ESGR State Committee to one small, one large, and one public sector employer in their state or territory. According to the ESGR State Committee, Allied Universal received this award due to its support of Guard and Reserve employees through the company’s leadership and practices, including adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve. This is the highest level award that may be bestowed by an ESGR State Committee.
“We are extremely honored to receive such a prominent award and we thank the ESGR State Committee and the Department of Defense for recognizing our commitment to advancing the lives and careers of our veterans and transitioning service members in the communities we serve,” said Steve Jones, CEO of Allied Universal. “This is the perfect time to recognize that veterans, service members and reservists are unsung heroes who do their part to serve and protect us as we celebrate the Army’s birthday on June 14.”
Allied Universal continues to employ men and women who have served in the military by helping advance their second career in the security industry. Over the last five years, the company has hired more than 33,000 veterans.
“I believe that the physical security arena is a match made in heaven for transitioning veterans,” said Bill King, regional vice president at Allied Universal, who served in the United States Army. “Veterans enter the workforce with identifiable skills that can be transferred to the physical security world and are often skilled in technical trends pertinent to business and industry.”
